Dan Román

b. 1974, San Juan, Puerto Rico

Dan Román's music brings together post minimalism with the sound and the cultural traditions of Puerto Rico.

His compositions have been performed in Puerto Rico, throughout the US, Canada, Latin America, and Europe, by ensembles and artists such as the Cuarteto Latinoamericano, Robert Black, Sally Pinkas, Yovianna García, Ensamble de Guitarras de Chile, The Alturas Duo, the New World Trio, Axiom Chamber Players, Ensemble Schumann, and The Dream Unfinished.

Dan Román holds a Bachelor's degree Summa cum laude from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico and a Master's and Doctorate in Composition from The Hartt School.

He currently serves as tenured Associate Professor of Composition at Trinity College (Hartford, Connecticut), where he additionally teaches courses in music theory, music history, electronic music and experimental improvisation, and directs the contemporary music ensemble.

Dan Román is an Innova Artist and a member of the American Composers Forum, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), and the Latin Academy of Recording Arts.
