Volutions was born from a draft I wrote for my symphonic composition, Revolución Revoluciones. The choice of three string quartets and piano was a result of trying to accommodate all the music that was written in that draft.
Ideally, the string players will seat in a circle, with each matching instrument located at a different corner of an equilateral triangle, and the piano at the very center.
The piano part should only be treated as subsidiary to the string players and never should take primary prominence, so the pianist might consider keeping the top closed to keep the volume of the instrument contained.
Volutions was written in 2023.
Esta pieza nació de un borrador que escribí para mi composición sinfónica, Revolución Revoluciones. La elección de tres cuartetos de cuerda y piano fue el resultado de intentar acomodar toda la música que se escribió en ese borrador.
Idealmente, los músicos de cuerda se sentarán en un círculo, con cada instrumento coincidente en una esquina diferente de un triángulo equilátero, y con el piano justo en el centro.
La parte de piano solo debe ser tratada como subsidiaria a los músicos de cuerda y nunca debe tomar un papel principal, por lo que el pianista puede considerar mantener la tapa cerrada para contener el volumen del instrumento.
